This blessed supplication serves as a strong fortress for the believer; it is recited to ward off envy and fear, and to seek success and an abundance of sustenance, by the permission of Allah, the Exalted. To make it easier to read and recite regularly, the supplication has been divided into short sections with a counter to track the number of repetitions.

Written Prayer for Modesty

I sought refuge in the light of God’s eternal and perfect countenance, took shelter in God’s mighty and all-encompassing fortress, and struck down those who sought to harm me with God’s arrow and His deadly sword

O Allah, O You who are in control of all matters, O You who stand above Your creation, and O You who stand between a person and his heart, remove Satan and his whispers from between me and myself.

And from among Your servants, those whom I cannot withstand, keep their tongues from me and bind their hands and feet.

O Allah, hide me from the gaze of those who look at me until I reach my destination, and hide me from the gaze of light, the gaze of darkness, and the gaze of those who wish me harm, untilI no longer care about their gaze.

Its flash is almost enough to blind the eyes. God alternates the night and the day. Indeed, in that is a lesson for those who see.

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Kah-Ya-A-Sin—He is our sufficiency, and He is sufficient for me. In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Ham-A-Siq—He is our protection, and He is sufficient for me.

Like rain that We sent down from the sky, which mingled with the vegetation of the earth, turning it into dry twigs scattered by the winds. He is Allah—there is no god but He, the Knower of the unseen and the seen. He isthe Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

On the Day of Judgment, when hearts are in the throats, choking back their emotions, the wrongdoers will have neither a close friend nor an intercessor whose plea will be heeded; each soul will know what it has brought upon itself.

So I do not swear by the setting stars, the night when it grows dark, the dawn when it breathes, or the Qur’an—the Book of Remembrance—but rather by those who have disbelieved in arrogance and discord

The color of God—and who is better than God at coloring?—like the color of the palm of our hands. Protect us, O God. Glory be to the All-Powerful, the All-Conquering, the All-Sufficient.

And We placed a barrier before them and a barrier behind them, and We shrouded them so that they cannot see—deaf, mute, and blind—so they do not understand.

The Supplication for Protection is considered one of the great supplications that grant the believer peace of heart and tranquility of soul. The importance of this supplication lies in its role as a strong spiritual fortress that shields a person from the evils of humans and jinn, and protects them from envy and the fears they may face in their daily lives. Regularly reciting this supplication strengthens one’s certainty in God’s power and protection, placing the believer in the presence of the Creator, which positively impacts their psychological well-being and success in various aspects of their life, and instills in them the confidence that everything that befalls them is by Allah’s knowledge and will.

Recommended Times and Circumstances for Reciting the Supplication for Concealment

Although it is permissible to recite this supplication at any time, there are certain times and circumstances when it is recommended to recite it in order to increase its merit and impact on the believer:

  • Early in the morning, so that it may serve as protection and a shield for the believer throughout the day.
  • Before going to sleep, to ward off nightmares and evil during the night and so that the sleeper may enjoy peace and tranquility.
  • When you feel fear or intense anxiety about a particular person or situation.
  • Before taking important steps or embarking on new endeavors, to seek divine guidance, smooth the way, and increase one’s livelihood.
  • In times of hardship and adversity, to seek peace and take refuge in God’s protection from all evil.

The Du’a al-Ihtijab serves as an impregnable fortress for the believer, protecting him from the evils of this world and the schemes of Satan, and granting him peace of mind and tranquility in all aspects of his life. Reciting it regularly with conviction and a focused heart opens the doors to success and wards off calamities and fears.
