The Importance and Virtues of the Tarawih Prayer
The Tarawih prayers during the blessed month of Ramadan represent a great opportunity to draw closer to Allah, the Exalted, and to renew faith in our hearts. On these blessed nights, mercy and forgiveness are bestowed, and the believer experiences moments of pure tranquility and peace of mind. Raising one’s hands in supplication after performing the Tarawih prayers and the Qunut of Witr reflects sincere reliance on Allah and an acknowledgment of one’s complete dependence on Him. Furthermore, the traditional supplication carries great blessings, as it combines the blessings of this world and the Hereafter and grants the Muslim spiritual strength that helps him face life’s challenges with a tranquil heart and a soul content with Allah’s decree and destiny.
Recommended Times and Circumstances for the Tarawih Prayer
To achieve the highest levels of acceptance and reverence, it is recommended to make a point of offering supplication at the following times and under the following circumstances:
- During the Qunut of Witr: At the conclusion of the Tarawih and Tahajjud prayers, which is the primary time for this supplication.
- In the last third of the night: For God, exalted be His Majesty, descends to the lowest heaven in a manner befitting His majesty, and answers the prayers of those who ask.
- When prostrating during prayer: It is when a servant is prostrating that he is closest to his Lord, and this is a most auspicious time to repeat supplications.
- Between the Adhan and the Iqama: It is a blessed time when prayers are answered and are never rejected.
- During the last ten nights of Ramadan: In anticipation of the blessed Night of Power, which is better than a thousand months.
