Prayer for the sick

This great supplication from the Sunnah is recited to seek speedy healing and relieve the pain of the sick. We ask Allah to heal every patient.

Prayer for the Sick

Take away the affliction, Lord of the people, and heal you the healer.

There is no healing except your healing, a healing that does not leave a sickness.

Narrated by Bukhari and Muslim

In the name of God

I seek refuge in Allah and His power from the evil of what I find and what I fear.

Lord God, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.

As your mercy is in heaven and earth, as your mercy is in heaven, so let your mercy be on earth.

Forgive us our sins, you are the Lord of the righteous.

Send down mercy from your mercy and healing from your healing on this ache and it will be healed.

Narrated by Abu Dawud

The times and situations in which it is advisable to pray for the sick

There are blessed times and situations in which it is hoped that prayers will be answered with God's permission, the most important of which are the following:

  • When visiting the patient and sitting next to him to console him.
  • In the last third of the night, when Allah (SWT) graciously answers those who ask and pray.
  • It is a great time when the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said that prayers cannot be answered.
  • During prostration in prayer, where the servant is closest to his Lord.
  • In times of hardship and pain, prayers are made with sincerity, brokenness, and complete supplication to God Almighty.
  • On Friday, especially the response hour, which is the last hour after the afternoon and before sunset.

Conclusion on Praying for the Sick

The commitment to reciting the prayer for the sick reflects the strength of faith and reliance on God for healing, and is a believer's weapon in times of distress and a source of peace and tranquility.
