And give good news to those who are patient
[Al-Baqarah:155]
Repay evil with what is better, and then the one with whom you were at enmity will be as though he were a close friend.
[Chapter 34]
The Importance and Virtues of a Husband's Supplication
A wife’s supplication for her husband—or praying for his guidance and righteousness—is considered one of the greatest acts of devotion through which a wife draws closer to Allah, the Exalted. This supplication reflects the sincerity of her intentions and her concern for the stability of her home, and it instills in her heart a sense of tranquility and inner peace as she entrusts her affairs to the Creator. When a wife prays for her husband, she seeks Allah’s help to overcome disagreements, soften her husband’s heart, improve his character, and make his affairs easier. Furthermore, the angels affirm the Muslim’s prayer for his brother in his absence, saying “And the same for you,” making this supplication a direct cause for bringing blessings, mercy, and affection between the spouses, and strengthening family bonds so they can withstand life’s difficulties and challenges.
Recommended Times and Circumstances for Reciting the Husband’s Prayer
There are blessed times and circumstances when supplications are more likely to be accepted and answered, by the grace of Allah, and among the most notable of these are:
- The last third of the night, when Allah, Glorified and Exalted be He, descends to the lowest heaven, answers the prayers of those who call upon Him, and forgives those who seek His forgiveness.
- During prostration in prayer, the servant is closest to his Lord, and it is a time when supplications are most likely to be answered.
- The interval between the adhan and the iqamah in the obligatory prayers.
- When it rains, it is a time of blessing and mercy, when the gates of heaven open.
- In times of hardship, distress, and marital disputes, with the intention of soothing hearts, dispelling anger, and reconciling the couple.
- On Friday, specifically during the hour following the Asr prayer until sunset, this is a time when prayers are answered, as mentioned in the authentic Sunnah.
Conclusion on the Husband's Prayer
Seeking refuge in Allah through prayer and showing patience toward one’s husband are the keys to family stability and overcoming hardships, and they are manifestations of good obedience for which a wife will be rewarded in this world and the Hereafter. Let words of repentance and remembrance of Allah be your weapon at all times to dispel the clouds of discord and establish affection and tranquility in your home. We ask Almighty Allah to accept your supplications, reconcile you with one another, and bestow upon you the blessings of affection and mercy.
